ALBOTAS

I guess if you're young and shut in Pennsylvania, you spend a lot of time on the Internet looking for awesome. He has a pretty good idea about what's awesome, krispy baconburgers and tons of munny & toy customs.

Debacle

I should have known better but I've been meaning to paint the Niou for a while now. Seemed like a good opportunity... I'm even pretty happy with the results.
One little problem the 5&1/2 foot tall paintings of the menacing guardians really isn't appropriate for a collection of landscapes and docile-looking Chinese princes. Oh well, I still have two days to whip something up.

Emperor lazy eye

Went through a bunch of the surviving portraits of the Ming ear royalty, not much to work with.
Flat, almost completely devoid of shadow & depth. Perfect.
Props to the guy who painted the emperor in red, complete with his lazy eye. How did he pull that off without getting executed?

Aiqin

I've know Aiqin Zhou for a long time now. She should be declared a national treasure for her brushpainting. There's often some of her work on display at the SF Asian Art Museum.
Amazing art.

Anyway she asked for a sumi piece for an Asian Art Museum show. let's see what happens...
